A Hope of Meeting You in Another World is the fourth episode of the third season of Anne. It premiered on CBC on October 13, 2019.
Synopsis[]
The argument between Anne and Marilla reaches its peak when Marilla maintains her ban on further research into her origins. Matthew intervenes by allowing Anne to do this research and confronts Marilla with her own fears. Anne goes to a church and learns that her parents, Walter and Bertha Shirley, died when she was only 3 months old, and that they were originally from Scotland. This discovery relieves her because she is certain that she has not been abandoned. Thanks to the reflections brought by Matthew and Miss Stacy, Marilla is reconciled with Anne and helps her in the continuation of her research.
Ka'kwet registers at the boarding school for "Indians" (native americans). She swears to her parents that she will remain proud and faithful to the Mi'kmak culture. However, the boarding school erases all of this culture in order to conform to their standards, using abusive means of restraint. When Anne tries to visit Ka'kwet, the face of the school that she is shown is positive, although she is not allowed to enter or see Ka'kwet. However, the reality inside is very different, and a rebellion by Ka'kwet results in her being physically punished.
Sebastian, very affected by the death of his wife, travels through The Bog to announce to Mary's relatives her death. He finds Elijah, tells him the news and gives him the letter from his mother. Elijah shows his indifference and it ends in a fight between him and Sebastian. Mary's funeral takes place on a Sunday. Elijah does not come, but reads the letter and feels regret.
Diana accompanies Marie-Jo, her employee, to do some shopping. She arrives at the house of Jerry and his family, and fakes an injury in order to stay longer. She spends the evening there and discovers the environment in which Jerry lives, different from the one she is used to, before her parents come to take her back.
Gilbert has another appointment with Winifred, where he invites her to her house. Mrs. Linde continues to send suitors to Miss Stacy.
