Production[]
On August 3, 2017, both the CBC and Netflix renewed the series for a 10-episode second season in 2018. [1]
CBC, Netflix, and Northwood Entertainment are delighted to announce that Anne has begun principal photography for its much anticipated second season. Themes of identity, prejudice, feminism, bullying, gender parity and empowerment are still very much prevalent as new characters join Anne (Amybeth McNulty) as she continues her exploration. [3]
The series, currently shooting in various locations in Ontario and PEI, will return for 10 episodes on CBC in Canada and globally – everywhere outside of Canada – on Netflix in 2018. [3]
Creator and executive producer/showrunner, Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad, Flesh and Bone) is excited about this groundbreaking season, stating, “Exploring modern topical issues in the world of this beloved character is a thrilling endeavor, and I hope this season ignites, unites, and inspires young people around the world.” [3]
